iTunes updates fix various bugs and sometimes bring new features as well. However, they may also introduce new errors to some users due to some reasons. One such error started occurring for many iOS users after updating iTunes to version 12.7. This error leads to iTunes cannot locate the cd configuration folder.
Why Does "iTunes cannot locate the CD Configuration folder" Happens
The iTunes CD Configuration folder is an important folder that iTunes needs to access. It contains files that are helpful in handling instructions related to CDs and DVDs. There could be many reasons why "iTunes cannot locate the CD Configuration folder" error occurs.
Some of the reasons behind this error may include its name being altered, its location being changed, it has been tempered with, a malware or virus deleted or corrupted the folder, etc. When this error occurs, all other functionalities of iTunes remain functional. But you cannot burn a CD or DVD via the software.

#1 Copy iTunes CD Configuration Folder
As mentioned above, the problem is directly located to the iTunes CD Configuration folder which is located on your hard drive. So in order to fix the error, you will need to make sure that both iTunes folder and the iTunes CD Configuration folder are located on the same drive. If they are located on different hard drives, then the error is likely to occur. So make sure the CD Configuration folder is located in a sub-folder in the iTunes root directory.
Step 1. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to C:\Program Files\iTunes and find the CD Configuration folder.

Step 2. Once you have found it, copy it and then navigate to installation folder of iTunes (considering you have installed it on another hard drive) and paste the copied folder there.
Alternatively, you can also cut the CD Configuration folder and paste it on a different location than iTunes installation folder. Doing this will allow iTunes to create the folder on its own when it is launched, thus fixing the error in the process.
#2 Repair iTunes
Another fix for this error is to repair the iTunes via Windows Control Panel. Repairing iTunes can fix minor errors that you may be facing (in this case iTunes cannot locate the CD Configuration folder). The process to do this is quite straightforward.
Step 1. Open Control Panel from Windows Start Menu.
Step 2. Navigate to Programs > Programs and Features > Uninstall a program option. There, you will see a list of softwares installed on your computer.
Step 3. Find iTunes and click Change and then the Repair option when it is prompted. Follow the on-screen instructions when attempting to repair the iTunes.
Step 4. Once Windows have repaired iTunes, it is recommended that you restart your computer. After that, launch iTunes and see if the error is solved.

If repairing the iTunes doesn't work for you, then it is recommended that you uninstall iTunes completely, download the latest version and then install it and attempt the fixes mentioned above.
